Community Outreach

Saint Peter’s University Hospital offers the community a variety of free health-related lectures, health education programs and classes, medical screenings, and support groups.

Community Mobile Health Services

When members of the community can’t get to Saint Peter’s University Hospital for health care, Saint Peter’s takes health care into the community. Our 34-foot health van has traveled thousands of miles throughout central New Jersey visiting schools, retirement communities, day care centers, homeless shelters, senior centers, public housing complexes, shopping centers, and corporations. We are staffed with advanced practice and registered nurses. We cover Middlesex and Somerset Counties—especially those areas where healthcare services may be limited. Some of the services our Community Mobile Health Unit staff provides are:

  • Audio screenings
  • Blood sugar screenings
  • Blood pressure screenings
  • Cholesterol screenings
  • Dermascan facial screenings
  • Follow-up health care
  • Healthcare education
  • Height, weight and body mass index measurements
  • Immunization testing
  • Osteoporosis screenings
  • Referrals for community healthcare services
  • Skin cancer screenings
  • Stroke risk assessment screenings
  • Vision screenings

If you would like our Community Mobile Health Unit staff to perform health screenings for your company or to be present at an event, please call 732-745-8600, extension 8903. Our Community Mobile Health Unit was grant funded and we are licensed by the state of New Jersey. The van fulfills Saint Peter’s mission to serve our community in a most direct way and has become a symbol of our commitment to the public.

Speaker’s Bureau

Saint Peter's Speakers Bureau is an educational service provided to schools, senior centers, community organizations and other groups. Healthcare professionals from Saint Peter's offer informative presentations on almost any health topic. Our speakers have expertise in such areas as disease prevention and treatment, infection control, nutrition and exercise, wound care, and pain control.

Call 732-565-5496, or you can complete a speaker request form  to arrange for one of our healthcare professionals to visit your group or organization. There is no fee for this community service. We try to accommodate all requests, but please allow us at least four weeks to make arrangements for a speaker.
