What is this “course”?
This is a two-week course that offers an observership in a medical residency program integrated with bedside teaching sessions to enhance CS skills ending with a mock exam (with standardized patients) in a newly built 5-star simulation center.

Who is this aimed at?
This is designed for international medical graduates who hope to obtain a medical residency position in the United States.

What will I gain from the observership aspect?
Hospital experience in the United States is crucial for a residency. We will write a Program Director letter of recommendation for strong candidates who are deserving.

What will I gain from the CS workshop?
Dedicated, experienced residents and faculty will be providing insight into the exam and teaching you valuable clinical skills that will stay for life. You will also experience a mock run of the exam.

What is the eligibility criteria?
Health and background checks permitting, any candidate with a passing score in Step 1 is encouraged to apply. See our form for further details.

Are only prospective medical residents allowed to apply?
Anyone can apply that wishes to be exposed to a U.S. residency program and may feel that the sessions supplement their CS revision.

How much will it cost?
2,000 US dollars plus additional fees for background check.

What’s the schedule during the two weeks?
You will be assigned to a medical teaching team for the two weeks and follow its daily routines. There will be three CS sessions a week and other lectures on interviews and ERAS applications. One day will be set aside for a mock exam.

What does New Brunswick, New Jersey have to offer?
New Brunswick is a great place to work and live with a diverse general and medical population. It is one hour away from New York City and less than two hours from Philadelphia. For more details, visit https://thecityofnewbrunswick.org or the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau at https://www.mcrcc.org.

Do you provide accommodations?
No, but please contact us for recommendations.

When are dates available?
Dates are available all year round but are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Who else will I come in contact with?
Networking is crucial in life. You will interact with our program director and other faculty members, residents, medical students and other doctors within the hospital. There will be an opportunity to communicate with all involved in your role as an observer in patient-centered care.

Can I apply to the Saint Peter’s Internal Medicine program for Residency Program?
