About New Brunswick


New Brunswick is located in central New Jersey. It is the county seat of Middlesex County, which is called the "Heart of New Jersey." New Brunswick itself is a major, dynamic economic and cultural center. It is home to Rutgers University; Johnson & Johnson World Headquarters; and several prestigious healthcare-related facilities, including Saint Peter's University Hospital. It is an ever-increasing population center with people from extremely diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds calling it home. Many different religious and cultural organizations are active within New Brunswick and its surrounding areas. The city center of New Brunswick is home to three very active professional theaters and a large array of excellent restaurants. The surrounding areas encompass population centers with more of a suburban feel, with a wide variety of homes and dwelling units available for rent or purchase.

Middlesex County is home to 18 county parks (totaling more than 6700 acres), 175 public schools, 70 private/parochial schools, 5 vocational schools, and ready access to shopping at more than 78 shopping and retail centers. Middlesex County is home to a diverse economic base with employment opportunities in a wide array of industries. Major roadways abound in central New Jersey, with New Brunswick at the crossroads of these well-traveled routes. Newark Liberty International Airport is only 20 minutes from New Brunswick. New York is less than one hour via car, bus, or train. New Brunswick is a major stopping point for public train and bus transportation. Philadelphia and Atlantic City are both within a "day-trip" driving distance from New Brunswick. Points of interest and recreation at the Jersey Shore or one of New Jersey state parks are a short drive away. Ask any of the three-quarters of a million people who call this area home, and they will tell you that New Brunswick and its surrounding areas offer the best in economic and cultural opportunity, as well as an outstanding place to raise a family.
