Dr. Carlos Aitor Macias
A native of Argentina, Dr. Macias obtained his medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires. After completing surgical training in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he moved to the United States, where he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship and a Master’s Degree in Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. During his stay in Pittsburgh, Dr Macias had the chance to publish his research in prestigious scientific journals such as the Annals of Surgery, Critical Care Medicine and Shock. He then completed a general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (currently Rutgers University) in New Brunswick, NJ. During his training, he was recognized with prestigious awards, including the Achievement Award of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons. He finished his training in San Diego, CA., where he completed a fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at University of California at San Diego. Dr. Macias strives for the highest standard of care in order to help his patients lose weight and improve their quality of life. With the help of an experienced and enthusiastic team that works together to help make this lifetime decision easier, Dr. Macias walks his patients through the entire process of having weight loss surgery.
Dr. Macias is a board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery; he is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons (SLS). Dr. Macias is fluent in Spanish, Italian and French.
