Pediatric Anesthesiology

When children come to The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital for a surgical procedure, their team of healthcare providers includes a board-certified anesthesiologist trained in pediatric anesthesia. Saint Peter’s has seven pediatric anesthesiologists – more than any facility in the area – who are trained to treat the special needs of children ages infants to teens.

In addition to providing patient care 24 hours a day at The Children’s Hospital, pediatric anesthesiologists care for patients in the CARES Surgicenter, Saint Peter’s same-day surgery facility located in the Center for Ambulatory Resources next to the hospital. They are also called to the Pediatric Emergency Department when patients need sedation or pain control.

The pediatric anesthesiologists consult with the neonatologists and the pediatric intensivists in Saint Peter’s Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatric Intensive Care units, respectively.
