Pediatric orthopaedists are best-trained to properly evaluate and treat musculoskeletal (bone, joint, or muscle) problems in a growing child from infancy to adolescence.
Pediatric orthopaedic surgeons diagnose, treat, and manage children's musculoskeletal problems such as:
- -Limb and spine deformities noted at birth or later in life (clubfoot, scoliosis, limb length differences)
- -Gait abnormalities (limping)
- -Broken bones
- -Bone or joint infections and tumors.
- -Scoliosis
Saint Peter’s University Hospital is the only hospital in the state to offer the low-dose, full-body
EOS® Imaging System for pediatric patients. Simultaneously front and back images of the child’s spine is taken by the EOS system. Computer software creates a 3D model of the image that is used to further evaluate bone-related degenteration and deformities such as scoliosis. At Saint Peter’s, orthopedic surgeons also have pioneered anterior scoliosis correction surgery for the treatment of scoliosis in adolescents.
