Over $30,000 Awarded through the President’s Unity-in-Diversity Scholarship in its Inaugural Year
In 2021, the President’s Unity-in-Diversity Scholarship was announced in the spirit of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System’s commitment to honor the diversity of its employee family. The program works to support minority group employees and their families to further their education through academic studies. The scholarship program is made possible through the generous financial support of president and CEO of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, Leslie D. Hirsch, members of the healthcare system’s senior leadership team and the greater healthcare system community.
Since the announcement of the President’s Unity-in-Diversity Scholarship program in 2021, $32,000 has been awarded to Saint Peter’s employees and their dependents. Adrienne Bowles, RN, was awarded a scholarship and shared the impact of the gift not only on herself, but her family.
“Keeping education alive by investing in the future of students through scholarships is one of the most powerful tools in changing the world. Scholarships provide a higher quality of life, strengthens our economy and allows us to pass down our education to the generations to come. I have come so far - from unit secretary to PCT to LPN and now RN. I plan to continue learning by enrolling in a nurse anesthetist program. I appreciate and will forever be grateful for this scholarship and financial opportunity.”
The creation of the President’s Unity-in-Diversity Scholarship was led by president and CEO of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, Leslie D. Hirsch, and he continues to be an advocate for the fund.
“At Saint Peter’s, the concept of diversity is far more than a word. Our commitment to fostering a diverse community means a willingness to create opportunities, as well as expand opportunities for those around us, which ultimately make us even stronger as a healthcare institution and as individuals – steadfast and faithful to our long-standing Catholic mission,” said Hirsch.
The President’s Unity-in-Diversity Scholarship is fully-funded through the support of community members. To make a donation to the scholarship program today, please visit www.saintpetershcs.com/donate.
