Neurosurgeons at Saint Peter's University Hospital use state-of-the-art technology and advanced procedures to treat diseases of the brain and spinal cord. We are one of the few hospitals in the area that perform adult and pediatric neurosurgery to treat epilepsy, brain tumors, aneurysms, blood clots, arteriovenous malformations and spinal fractures.

In addition to using traditional neurosurgery, physicians specializing in interventional neuroradiology treat many diseases of the brain and spinal cord by using guided imagery.

Coblation uses radio frequency (RF) to dissolve and remove cancerous tumors that cause spinal fractures. Following this procedure, vertebroplasty (injecting a cement substance) is performed to stabilize the spine. This dual approach spares patients major spinal surgery and generally reduces pain in three days.
