Providing Award-Winning Nursing Care
Nurses have been caring for patients since we opened our doors more than 100 years ago. Our award-winning nursing staff continues our rich history of high-quality, specialty care delivered by talented, competent, well-educated professional nurses and skillful support staff.
Saint Peter’s became only the fifth hospital in the world to earn Magnet® recognition for nursing excellence six times in a row from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to do so at the time. Saint Peter’s has received the Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses for its intensive Care Unit (six times), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (the first in New Jersey to earn the award three times), Cardiac Progressive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Further evidence of Saint Peter's excellence in nursing is the high achievement of nursing certification compared to the national benchmark.
Saint Peter's nurses have earned degrees at a rate of 82.18 percent, a figure that far exceeds the national benchmark of 71.7 percent (per the American Association of Colleges of Nursing). Under the leadership of Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer Linda Carroll, MSN, RN, RN-BC, Saint Peter's has developed a nurse externship program, designated education units and created partnerships with a variety of academic organizations that offer advanced nursing degrees both online and on-site.
