Project Respect Ed
Saint Peter’s University Hospital’s Project Respect Ed provides education and support for central New Jersey youth between the ages of 10 and 18 years of age and their parents/guardians. Participants learn about setting goals, healthy decision-making and avoidance of high risk behaviors including smoking, underage drinking, drug use and sexual activity. Open communication between student and parent/guardian is encouraged and supported with regard to these important topics.
Funded in part by a federal Title V grant administered by the New Jersey Department of Health, Project Respect Ed is offered in middle schools and high schools in Central New Jersey, serving over 2,500 students and parents/guardians each year. Our program is multidimensional, age appropriate and bi-lingual (English/Spanish). Program components include:
- Classroom instruction as part of the health curriculum in the schools we serve
- Parent Workshops and Mother/Daughter Programs
- After School Community Service Learning Clubs
- Outreach to Especially Vulnerable Youth
- Teacher/Social Outreach Worker Workshops
- Positive Youth Development/Community Engagement through PhotOvoiceS Project
