Respiratory Care Services
Saint Peter’s University Hospital is one of close to 700 hospitals out of the 5,000 hospitals in the U.S. – and the only one in central New Jersey – named a Quality Respiratory Care institution. The Respiratory Care Department at Saint Peter's University Hospital is an essential part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team that works in collaboration with physicians and nurses to provide compassionate, comprehensive, and individual expert care through therapeutic and diagnostic services.
Our Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) provide therapeutic and diagnostic care to patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. RCPs are part of a multidisciplinary team which provides the highest standard of expert care. In caring for a vast patient population, RCPs provide many advanced therapies, including:
- High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV)
- ARDSnet protocol and spontaneous breathing trials (SBTs)
- Administration and education of Bi-level positive airway pressure/continuous positive airway pressure (BiPAP/CPAP) and Hi-Flow Nasal Cannula
- Airway clearance through various forms of chest physiotherpy (CPT)
- Aerosolized medication therapy education and administration
- Airway management.
