What We Offer:
- Expert Diagnosis: We use the latest diagnostic tools and tests to diagnose thyroid and parathyroid conditions. Saint Peter’s Pathology Department has a record turnaround time of results in 24 to 36 hours, when other hospitals can have a six-day turnaround time.
- Many Treatment Options: We offer a variety of treatment options, including surgery, medications, and non-surgical radiofrequency ablation (RFA) to best suit your individual needs.
- Thyroid Hormone Therapy: Following surgery, some patients may require medication to regulate hormone levels. Saint Peter’s skilled endocrinologists can provide care.
Thyroid Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy
A biopsy can help your physician find the cause of a nodule. Saint Peter’s offers a minimally invasive procedure for biopsies called a Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy. The area is numbed, and a thin needle is carefully inserted into the thyroid nodule with the help of ultrasound imaging. FNA thyroid biopsies are performed in the operating room at Saint Peter’s University Hospital.

Recovery Times
Recovery times vary depending on the type of surgery performed. Typically, patients go home the same day or the day after surgery. More complex surgeries may require a longer hospital stay. Our surgeons will discuss the specific recovery process with their patients in detail.
