Andrew Camerota, MD, is a general surgeon specializing in thyroid and parathyroid surgeries. He has been with Saint Peter’s University Hospital since 1995. He obtained his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical School, Philadelphia, PA, and completed his residency at Boston University in Massachusetts. After four years of military service, Dr. Camerota moved to the New Brunswick area. He has been part of Saint Peter’s teaching program for surgical residents and medical students.

Dr. Camerota has long had an active interest in the treatment of thyroid and parathyroid abnormalities. He performs a significant number of thyroid and parathyroid procedures per year and attends national meetings on the topic. He also performs surgeries for hernias. Dr. Camerota is highly skilled in robotic surgery through the da Vinci® Surgical System, having performed over 1,000 surgeries using the system.

Charles Franco, MD, FACS, specializes in general, vascular, and robotic surgery. He is the medical director of the Saint Peter’s University Hospital’s Wound Care Center® and Hyperbaric Services in New Brunswick and Monroe Township. He is part of Saint Peter’s Physician Associates with an office in Monroe Township, NJ.

Dr. Franco performs general surgery procedures, whether open (the traditional type of surgery), laparoscopic or using the da Vinci® Si™ robotic surgical technique, that involve the gallbladder, pancreas, colon (for cancer or diverticulitis), appendix, and hernia. He also performs endocrine procedures to treat diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands, and disorders of the spleen. He performs vascular and endovascular surgeries for peripheral vascular disease, including but not limited to abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, angioplasties, and bypass procedures for occlusive disease, and treats venous insufficiencies and symptomatic vein issues with laser ablation procedures.

He completed his medical school and residency training at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), and a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Manhattan.

Kianoush Sheykholeslami, MD, PhD, FACS, otolaryngology surgeon, is the chief of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Shey, as he is known, is triple American Board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Sleep Medicine and is a pre-Board candidate in Otology and Neurotology.

Dr. Shey is a specialist in skull-based tumors, both malignant and non-malignant, and is certified as a console surgeon for transoral robotic procedures using the da Vinci® surgical system, a less invasive means of surgical tumor extraction which allows faster recovery times for patients.
