The SKN South Asian Diabetes Center
The SKN South Asian Diabetes Center at Saint Peter’s University Hospital is a collaboration between the SKN Foundation, a local non-profit serving South Asians in the Central Jersey area, and Saint Peter’s University Hospital, serving as a resource center for South Asians who are affected by diabetes. The Center was created to meet the healthcare needs of a growing South Asian population in central New Jersey while also attending to their cultural needs.
The SKN South Asian Diabetes Center at Saint Peter’s provides free early detection screenings every month and education events with a focus on preventing and managing diabetes among South Asians. Patients have access to Saint Peter’s multidisciplinary diabetes care programs, including diabetes self-management education* recognized by the American Diabetes Association.
The Center’s director, Meena Murthy, MD, FACE, chief of Saint Peter’s Division of Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolism, and her team focus on the highest quality diagnostics and treatment for each patient. They pride themselves on educating and supporting South Asians who have been diagnosed with diabetes, as well as offering preventive services for those who are most at risk.
The SKN South Asian Diabetes Center also provides information to help community members learn about various resources that may help them manage their chronic illness
